How to Declare Value of a Parcel for GST Calculation
GST on Sea and Air Shipping:
-- All sea-shipping parcels are subject to a 9% GST, which must be paid along with the shipping fee.
-- For air shipping, if the total declared value of a shipping order exceeds S$400, a 9% GST applies. This GST is paid to Singapore Customs during the import clearance process.
-- Customers must accurately declare the value of their parcels in Singapore dollars before they can be included in a shipping order. Once declared, the GST amount will be automatically calculated.
Importance of Accurate Declaration:
-- Under-declaring parcel values is a serious offence under the Singapore Customs Act. To avoid unintentional under-declaration, please declare the total value of the parcel, not just the unit price of the items inside. For example, if an item costs S$5 per unit and there are 100 units in the parcel, the total declared value should be S$500, not S$5
-- All parcels, whether shipped by sea or air, must have their values correctly declared before submission into a shipping order.
Customs Inspections & Penalties:
-- Singapore Customs frequently inspects parcels during clearance.
-- Parcels with noticeably under-declared values are more likely to be flagged for investigation.
-- To avoid potential fines and penalties, ensure all parcel values are declared accurately. To avoid unintentional under-declaration, please declare the total value of the parcel, not just the unit price of the items inside. For example, if an item costs S$5 per unit and there are 100 units in the parcel, the total declared value should be S$500, not S$5
How to Declare Parcel Value and GST
You can declare your parcel's total value through the User Center on our website. There are two ways to do this:
(1) Before the parcel arrives at our warehouse – Add the parcel to your User Center and declare its total value in advance.
(2) After the parcel arrives at our warehouse – Once our warehouse staff have added the parcel to your User Center, you can edit its information and declare the total value.
Most customers choose the second option since adding a parcel to the User Center before it arrives is not mandatory. Regardless, our warehouse staff will ensure that every parcel is recorded in its rightful owner's User Center, even if the customer does not manually add it.
Method (1): Declare Total Value of a Parcel by Adding Parcel in User Center
From the User Center on the website, please click the “Add Parcel” from the left-side menu or the “Add Parcel” quick-link button from the bottom.
After clicking the “Add Parcel” button, a blank form will appear for you to enter the parcel details. Please provide accurate information, including the tracking number (which can be copied and pasted from Taobao or provided by your seller/supplier), a description of the goods, quantity, and the total value (not unit price) of the goods in SGD.
After fill in all the required information, do remember to click the "Submit" button to save the information into your User Center. Please ensure that the declared value is the total value of all goods in the parcel, not the unit value of the goods. For example, if an item costs S$5 per unit and there are 100 units in the parcel, the total declared value should be S$500, not S$5.
Method (2): Declare Total Value of A Parcel from User Center (Declare Total Value of A Parcel in S$)
Most customers do not manually add parcels to the User Center, so they typically use the second approach to declare GST. Our warehouse staff will input the parcel details concerning actual weight and dimensional weight of a parcel on your behalf once the parcel arrives.
Once your parcel appears in the User Center, you can declare its total value by clicking “Manage My Parcel” from the left-side menu on the website or using the “Declare Parcel S$” quick-link button at the bottom of the screen.
After clicking “Manage My Parcel” or “Declare Parcel S$”, a form will appear for you to enter the parcel details. The tracking number is pre-filled, making it easy to identify each parcel. Parcels are listed in chronological order, with the most recently received parcels appearing at the top.
For parcels displaying 0 value, 0 quantity, a blank description, and the status “Not Yet Declared”, click the View/Edit button to open the editing window and enter the necessary information, as shown below.
Once you click the View/Edit button, the Parcel Information Window will appear as shown below. Click the “Edit Parcel Information” button, then enter the accurate details for the parcel, including the description of the goods, quantity, and the "total value" of the parcel in SGD.

After clicking "Edit Parcel Information", a blank table will appear for you to enter the details (e.g., description of the goods, total value of the parcel and quantity included) of your parcel.
Do remember to click "submit" to save the entered information into your User Center.
After a parcel is declared, the parcel will be moved into its next status as "Ready to Ship" in the User Center.
