Shipping Insurance


Customers who wish to purchase shipping insurance can contact our customer service (WhatsApp 6588130282) staff to arrange.  The insurance price is based on 3.5% of the declared value of a parcel with a minimum of S$15.
  

We suggest all customer that they should purchase shipping insurance for mobile phones, notebook computers, tablet PCs and any merchandise which has a declared value higher than S$100.  A lost or damaged parcel without shipping insurance will be compensated by a value equivalent to three times of its shipping fee rather than being compensated by its declared value. In addition, the compensation amount is capped at S$100 for a parcel.  That is, if three times of the shipping fee for a parcel exceeds S$100 and the parcel was lost, then the compensation will be S$100.

Fragile merchandise and items are not insurable.  We can still accept your parcels that contain fragile items for sea and air shipping, such as goods that are made of glass, china, mirror, furniture, marble panel, art works (painting), branded high-value cameras, etc.  However, please inform your sellers to very well pack the items.  For example, you can ask your sellers to stuff protective foams in the package and put on wood crates on the packages. 


If a parcel was insured with shipping insurance and was lost during the shipping process, then we will compensate the customer declared value of the parcel.  However, if the declared value of parcel is greater than S$600 and the parcel was lost during the shipping process, then we will compensate the customer S$600.   That is, the compensation for an insured parcel is capped at S$600. 

We do not offer sea shipping insurance for goods and merchandise that are precious or have very high values, such as jewellery, precious stones and metals, luxury goods (e.g., branded luxury watches, clothes, handbags and their counterfeit products), high-value rare antiques, currency and banknotes.  If you still need to ship any of those high-value precious merchandise from China to Singapore, please contact us to arrange special shipping via air shipping.  Do not submit a shipping order of any precious goods or merchandise via sea shipping by yourself.  If your precious, high-value merchandise was lost during the sea shipping process, the compensation will be a value equivalent to three times of the shipping fee rather than its declared or true market value.


Scope and Coverage of Taobao2SG Liability 

 
1. If the parcel was lost and cannot be retrieved in one month, we are liable to compensate the customer.
2. We are liable to compensate the customer if the parcel and items inside the parcels were damaged because the parcel package was broken, flooded, or burn by fire.  Please be advised that if the parcel package is intact while some items inside the package were broken or damaged, then the damage will not be claimable by the insurance.  We will not be liable for any damage to the items in the parcel if the parcel package itself is still intact at the time of delivery.  For example, you received a parcel which has an intact and unopened package or box in good condition.  However,  after you open the intact package or box you found that some items in the parcel were broken (e.g., broken glass, broken lamp bulbs, distorted shape of the item caused by change of temperature during shipping).  As long as the parcel package was not broken at the time of delivery, then we are not liable to the damaged items in the parcel. In such cases, we would advise that you should contact the sellers and ask them to send you the replacement items. 
3. We are liable to compensate a customer if his or her parcels have been withheld by Singapore Customs for more than 3 months while the customer's goods are accurately declared and legally allowed to be imported into Singapore.
   


Procedure for Purchasing Shipping Insurance


1. A customer who wish to buy shipping insurance contact us via WhatsApp 6588130282 and then pays the shipping fee and the insurance fee.
2. We will inspect your parcel when it is delivered to our Guangzhou warehouse.  If the parcel and the items are fine, then we will take several photos and send you the pictures via WhatsApp or WeChat.
3. We will pack your insured parcels and other parcels (if applicable) and ship them to Singapore.  If the parcel is precious or has a high-value (e.g., mobile phone, jewellery, notebook computer), then it will certainly be shipped by air shipping. Otherwise, we will ask the customer whether the insured parcel should be shipped by sea shipping or air shipping.  For non-precious, non-high-value parcels which are insured, the customer can decide how the parcels should be shipped to Singapore - by air or by sea. 


Once the insured parcels arrive in Singapore, customer must come to our Clementi warehouse to inspect and self-collect the parcel.  We can deliver the insured parcels to a customer's location only if the customer has already personally inspected and signed the parcels in our Clementi warehouse.
